University of Colorado Joins Pac-10

It’s official.  All the speculation is over.  This is the first official release for a member of the Big 12 to leave.  The domino’s are falling now.  I expect Nebraska to officially announce tomorrow they will join the Big 10 and the Pac-10 “should” announce OU, OSU, Texas Tech, Texass, and ANM joining the Pac-10 to form the PAC-16 super conference.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.–The Pacific-10 Conference announced today that the University of Colorado at Boulder has accepted an invitation to join the Conference as its 11th member, the first new member since July 1, 1978.

“This is an historic moment for the Conference, as the Pac-10 is poised for tremendous growth. The University of Colorado is a great fit for the Conference both academically and athletically and we are incredibly excited to welcome Colorado to the Pac-10,” said Commissioner Larry Scott.

“On behalf of The University of Colorado students, faculty, alumni and fans, we are proud to accept this invitation from the Pac-10 and join the most prestigious academic and athletic conference in the nation, ” said Philip P. DiStefano, chancellor of CU-Boulder.

“The University of Colorado is a perfect match – academically and athletically – with the Pac-10,” said University of Colorado President Bruce D. Benson, “our achievements and aspirations match those of the universities in the conference and we look forward to a productive relationship.”

Commissioner Scott, Chancellor DiStefano, President Benson, CU Board of Regents Chairman Steve Bosely and CU Athletics Director Mike Bohn and others will hold an official press conference on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. MT at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo.

Leija backyard – Final Trim & BBQ Island

Wow this has been a very busy month!  Friday we got our electrical completed by having in ground power for the BBQ Island, 8 coach lights, and 2 ceiling fans installed.  Monday and Tuesday the work on the final trim work was completed.  On Tuesday the 8″ BBQ Island was delivered.

Monday morning Jessica, Chaz, and I tilled up the backyard so we can have our landscaping completed in the next couple of weeks.  We still have to decide on the stone for the beds and have the sprinklers reworked to reflect what is coming down the line.

We are currently debating about mounting outdoor speaks.  And we are also looking into painting the white on the Island so it doesn’t stand out so much!

Congrats to Zach Thomas!

Thomas is to appear at a news conference at the Dolphins' training facility with other team officials.

Thomas spent 12 seasons with the Dolphins, then played for Dallas in 2008. The seven-time Pro Bowl player was in camp with Kansas City last year. He was released before the season because of undisclosed injury issues.

Packers sign QB Graham Harrell

Congrats to Graham Harrell for signing with the Packers!  I guess I can’t root against them anymore!  For now!  ;-)

Green Bay – The Packers signed former Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell after he worked out for the team today.

The Packers don't have to release any players because they have three open roster spots since restricted free agents Tramon Williams, Johnny Jolly and Atari Bigby have not signed.

The Packers now have five quarterbacks on the roster: Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn, Chris Pizzotti and Noah Shepard. The Packers could release one to stay at 77 signed players. Undrafted free agent Noah Shepard hasn't been sharp in practice.

After a record-setting career for the Red Raiders, Harrell (6-2, 223) went undrafted in 2009. After a failed tryout with the Cleveland Browns, he signed a two-year contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. He was released last month.
